On the morning of March 19, 1985, a tragic event unfolded in a Milwaukee alley that claimed the life of 48-year-old White male police officer Leonard R. Lesnieski. A veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department for 16 years and a Marine Corps veteran, Lesnieski was on patrol with his partner, Officer Rosario Collura, when they happened upon a drug deal in progress near North 17th and West Center Streets.
