David Lucas, age 39, was fatally shot on September 3, 2011, in Chicago, Illinois. The homicide occurred in the Austin neighborhood, which has been particularly afflicted by high levels of gun violence and crime. Lucas was found with gunshot wounds on a street, and despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
