In the early hours of a spring morning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of 29-year-old Omar Vera-Marti was cut short. On April 27, 2009, Vera-Marti was leaving a home on the south side of the city when he was fatally shot. He had been in the company of two women as they were getting into a car in the 2100 block of S. 15th Place. It was then that a man named Francisco Rivera approached them.
