On a summer evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of 20-year-old Dominic Hill, a Black male, was cut short by a barrage of gunfire. On August 18, 2014, Hill was inside his parked car near the intersection of 47th and Center Streets when witnesses reported hearing between ten and eleven gunshots. Despite being gravely wounded, Hill managed to drive for less than a block before crashing his vehicle near a building on Center Street, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident was a grim reminder of the persistent issue of gun violence that plagued the city's north side.
Known affectionately as "Domo" to his loved ones, Hill was a father to a young daughter who was nearing her second birthday at the time of his death. The tragedy was compounded for his family, as his sister had previously lost another brother to violence. In the immediate aftermath, the Milwaukee Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide.
During the course of their investigation, authorities made an arrest at a residence on 47th Street and recovered several firearms.
