In the small community of Bancroft, Wisconsin, the life of Lisa Marie Sanchez, a 44-year-old White/Caucasian woman, came to a sudden and violent end on June 3, 2015. The incident that unfolded on that late spring morning on Division Street would leave a lasting mark on her family and the quiet town.
Lisa died from a gunshot wound to the neck. The event prompted a significant law enforcement response, including a four-hour negotiation that ultimately led to the arrest of her husband, Larry Sanchez.
In the aftermath, Larry Sanchez faced serious legal consequences for his wife's death. He was initially charged with murder and homicide by intoxicated use of a firearm. However, through a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide. In exchange for his plea, the other charges were dismissed. A court sentenced the 59-year-old Bancroft man to 30 years in prison, to be followed by 10 years of extended supervision upon his release.
