In the early morning hours of October 20, 2015, 54-year-old Michael Schoos, a White male, was shot and killed inside his Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home near Appleton and Melvina. What initially appeared to be a tragic home invasion robbery was soon revealed to be a meticulously planned crime orchestrated by his own wife, Lakisha Love-Schoos. Tired of arguing and fighting with her husband, she conspired with a man named Ian LeFlore to rob him.
The plan was set in motion when Love-Schoos met
LeFlore and devised a plot for a home invasion. She reportedly left a door unlocked to facilitate the entry of LeFlore and his accomplices. In the early morning, four men broke into the couple's bedroom. One of the intruders pointed a gun at Love-Schoos, pulled her to the floor, and demanded money and keys, threatening that someone would be shot. While one man held her down in a breezeway, another pulled Michael Schoos from the bed, and others ransacked the house. During the chaotic home invasion, Schoos was shot multiple times. An autopsy later confirmed he died from three gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the homicide led to the arrest of Lakisha Love-Schoos and four men: Ian LeFlore, Oshay Randolph, Diondray Willis, and Shaquille Walker. All five were charged with felony murder. According to the criminal complaint, LeFlore told investigators that he saw Randolph shoot Schoos in the lower back. Walker admitted to participating in the home invasion and providing the revolver used in the robbery.
Ultimately, all individuals charged in connection with Michael Schoos's death faced legal consequences. Lakisha Love-Schoos pleaded guilty to felony murder and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Ian LeFlore also pleaded guilty to felony murder and received a 14-year prison sentence. Diondray Willis pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Oshay Randolph and Shaquille Walker also pleaded guilty to felony murder charges. The tragic event underscored the devastating outcome of a domestic dispute that escalated into a fatal act of violence.
