In the quiet town of Portage, Wisconsin, the life of 41-year-old Tracy L. Krueger, a White/Caucasian female, was tragically cut short on February 15, 2016. Known for her love of people, which she channeled into her passion for waitressing, Tracy was a mother who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like hiking, fishing, and spending time with her two daughters.
The circumstances of her death were violent and rooted in a history of domestic turmoil.
Tracy was fatally shot by her estranged husband, Kevin Karl Krueger, at the Ridge Motor Inn in Portage. The day of the murder was hauntingly significant, as it was the same day the couple was scheduled to appear before a judge concerning the divorce proceedings Tracy had initiated the previous October. Her father revealed that his daughter had endured years of abuse leading up to this final, fatal encounter.
The investigation into Tracy’s death led to the swift identification of her estranged husband as the perpetrator. Kevin Krueger, who was 55 years old at the time, had stolen a shotgun from a friend and used it to commit the murder. Following the act, he claimed to have no memory of shooting his wife.
Kevin Krueger was subsequently arrested and faced serious charges, including First Degree Intentional Homicide and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. In a turn of legal events, he pled no contest to these charges. As a result, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, ensuring he would be held accountable for his actions. As part of a plea agreement, two other felony charges against him, Possession of Narcotic Drugs and Stalking Resulting in Bodily Harm, were dismissed.
