On a tragic Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of 38-year-old Sherida Davis, a Black female, was cut short in a devastating act of domestic violence. The incident unfolded on March 11, 2017, at a residence on the 9600 block of West Goodrich Avenue. Responding to a call shortly after 2:00 PM, Milwaukee Police arrived at the scene to a grim discovery.
Inside the home, they found Sherida Davis and her estranged husband, 47-year-old Leon Davis, both suffering from gunshot
wounds. Sherida was rushed to a local hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries. Leon Davis, a Milwaukee Police officer assigned to District Three, was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation quickly revealed the incident to be a murder-suicide, with Leon Davis having shot his wife before taking his own life.
The couple's 12-year-old son was present in the home at the time of the shooting and made the heart-wrenching 911 call. The tragedy brought to light a history of domestic turmoil between the couple, who were in the process of divorcing. Records indicated that this was not the first time they had initiated divorce proceedings. Furthermore, Leon Davis had a history of domestic violence allegations that dated back two decades.
