On a tragic Friday evening, August 17, 2018, the life of 54-year-old White female, Julie Virginia Anderson, was cut short in her Waunakee, Wisconsin, apartment. The devastating event unfolded in the presence of her 15-year-old son and 4-year-old grandson. Anderson suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was airlifted to UW Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Following the shooting, the suspect retreated to his own apartment within the same complex.
Authorities, including a SWAT team negotiator, were able to make contact with the man. After a period of negotiation, the suspect surrendered to law enforcement without further incident.
The individual taken into custody was identified as Ronald Jenne, a 74-year-old neighbor of Anderson. He was subsequently booked into the Dane County Jail on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, law enforcement officials stated that they had not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
Julie Virginia Anderson, born on November 15, 1963, in Dodgeville, was a graduate of Iowa-Grant High School and an employee of the State of Wisconsin's Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. She was a mother to a daughter and a son, and a grandmother to two grandsons. Her death left a void in the lives of her numerous siblings, extended family, and friends.
