On the morning of February 6, 2019, Matthew Rittner, a 35-year-old White male and a 17-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department, was part of a tactical unit serving a no-knock search warrant. The warrant was for the residence of a man suspected of illegally selling firearms and drugs. As Officer Rittner and his team attempted to breach the door of the duplex on South 12th Street, their presence was announced.
