On a winter day in 2021, the life of 29-year-old Shanton S. Robinson, a Black / African American male from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, was tragically cut short. On February 23rd, Robinson was left at a Madison clinic with a severe gunshot wound to his chest. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injury at a local hospital. The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office would later confirm that the gunshot wound was the cause of his death.
The Sun Prairie Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Their inquiry led them to determine that the shooting had taken place on the west side of Sun Prairie, specifically on Broadway Drive, which is located near Highway 151 and Main Street. As the investigation progressed, authorities identified a person of interest and sought help from the public to locate him.
Following a tip, the Sun Prairie police were able to locate and arrest a suspect in early March of that year. The individual taken into custody was 33-year-old Anthony Young. At the time of his arrest, it was anticipated that Young would face multiple charges, including first-degree reckless homicide, felony bail jumping, and drug possession in connection with the death of Shanton Robinson.
