On a summer evening in Sumner, Wisconsin, a gathering meant to honor a life lost turned into the scene of another tragedy. It was August 9, 2022, and 22-year-old Nicolette Satterfield was at a rental home on Lake Drive with others to celebrate the birthday of her late boyfriend, who himself had been killed in a shooting the previous year. The group was eating, drinking, and celebrating his memory throughout the evening.
