On a cold December evening in Spokane, Washington, the life of 38-year-old Demetrius Dennis, a male, came to a tragic and violent end. The night of December 26, 2015, was meant for celebration, as Dennis was reportedly hosting a party at his home on West Central Avenue. He lived there with his girlfriend, Melissa Wilson, and their two-month-old infant.
The festive atmosphere was shattered by a knock at the door, a sound that heralded the arrival of a long-simmering conflict.
When Dennis answered the door, he was met by Brian Lee Hall, his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. A bitter history existed between the two men, fueled by Hall's anger over Dennis's relationship with Wilson. This animosity had previously escalated to physical violence and threats. On this night, the confrontation reached its fatal climax. Hall raised a handgun and fired a single shot, striking Dennis in the chest. Brian Lee Hall was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, and second-degree assault, in addition to a firearm possession charge to which he pleaded guilty.
