In the quiet community of Belfair, Washington, the morning of February 26, 2016, was shattered by a horrific act of violence that claimed the life of 16-year-old Quinn Carlson. A male, Quinn was one of four victims in a tragic murder-suicide that unfolded at a residence on Northeast Horseshoe Drive. The events began when David Wayne Campbell, 51, contacted authorities to report that he had killed four people and intended to take his own life.
When law enforcement arrived at the property,
they found Campbell armed and a tense standoff ensued. For three hours, negotiators tried to convince him to surrender peacefully. During this time, a 12-year-old girl, who was also in the house, managed to escape to safety. The standoff concluded tragically when Campbell exited the residence and fatally shot himself in front of the officers.
Upon searching the property, authorities discovered the bodies of Quinn Carlson, his 49-year-old mother Lana J. Carlson, and his 18-year-old brother Tory Carlson in a chicken coop.
