On the morning of October 7, 2016, in Auburn, Washington, 17-year-old Hispanic male Erick Valdez-Herrera was fatally shot while sitting unarmed in his car. The incident occurred around 8:32 a.m. in the 500 block of 25th Street Southeast. Witnesses reported seeing a group of individuals approach Valdez-Herrera's vehicle, with one person firing multiple shots at close range into the car.
