In the late hours of a November evening in 2017, a confrontation in a Des Moines parking lot turned deadly, claiming the life of 52-year-old Leonard Eliysares. The incident, which unfolded around 11 p.m. on November 28th, stemmed from a dispute. Eliysares, a male, was shot multiple times and was found by police in the driver's seat of his vehicle. He tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting led detectives to identify a suspect through their
diligent work. Within a couple of days, on November 30th, the Des Moines Police Department, with the assistance of the Valley SWAT team, located and arrested a 28-year-old Kent man in connection with the homicide. The arrest took place in Kent, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Following the arrest, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail as the investigation continued. Prosecutors later filed charges against the Kent man, alleging second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Leonard Eliysares. The swift action by law enforcement brought a suspect before the courts to answer for the violent end to a man's life in a parking lot.
