In the summer of 2019, the community of Wenatchee, Washington, was shaken by the unexpected loss of Michael Diana Tupling-Rodrigue, a 41-year-old White/Caucasian woman. A resident of Wenatchee since 2002, she passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, in her home on Highland Drive. Born in Brewster, Washington, on November 6, 1977, Michael had built a life centered around her family, friends, and pets.
She was known as a devoted mother to her seven children and had established a career as an insurance agent in the area.
The circumstances of her death were the result of a domestic violence incident that ended in a murder-suicide. Investigators determined that Michael was fatally shot by her husband, 54-year-old Edgar L. Rodrigue. After shooting his wife, Edgar then used the same firearm to take his own life. Wenatchee police responded to a report at the residence and found both individuals deceased. Authorities confirmed that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Given the nature of the incident, with the perpetrator also being deceased, there were no arrests made in connection with Michael's death, and no other suspects were sought. The Chelan County Coroner's investigation confirmed the events as a murder-suicide. The Rodrigue family had owned their home since 2011, and the couple had been married since 2007, leaving behind a large family to grapple with the sudden and tragic loss.
