In the early moments of February 10, 2022, the life of Esteban Alonzo Vasquez III, a 38-year-old White / Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Tacoma, Washington. The night was shattered at approximately 12:40 a.m. when two unidentified men forced their way into his apartment in the Midland area. The violent home invasion unfolded in the presence of his mother and his own infant son.
It was Vasquez's mother who made the desperate call to 911, reporting the break-in and the ensuing gunfire.
When Pierce County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the residence, located near 10th Avenue Court East and 76th Street Court East, they found Vasquez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders administered aid, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office later officially ruled his death a homicide.
In the aftermath of the fatal shooting, detectives with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department launched an investigation into the deadly home invasion.
