In the quiet city of Ellensburg, Washington, the life of a vibrant 22-year-old White/Caucasian male named Tyler Lowrence came to a tragic and sudden end on the night of July 25, 2022. Lowrence, who had moved to Ellensburg earlier that year, was known for his artistic pursuits and worked as a line cook. He was living with his boyfriend, Hunter Rodgers, in a residence on Yew Street.
On that Monday evening, Ellensburg Police officers were dispatched to their home around 10 p.m. following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Lowrence deceased at the scene from a gunshot wound. The Ellensburg Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
As the investigation progressed, detectives arrested Lowrence's 23-year-old boyfriend, Hunter Rodgers. He was taken into custody and faced a recommended charge of first-degree manslaughter. Later, court documents indicate that Hunter Rodgers pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter in the second degree. Following his plea, he was sentenced to 15.75 months of confinement.
