Patrolman Daniel Lee Hay, aged 22, tragically lost his life on October 16, 1979, while serving with the Maysville Police Department in Kentucky. On that fateful night, Patrolman Hay was responding to a burglary at a local grocery store. During his investigation, he was shot and killed by the suspect, who then fled the scene through an air duct.
