Jason Scott Ellis, a 33-year-old Bardstown police officer, was tragically killed on May 25, 2013, in what has been described as an ambush-style attack. Ellis was on his way home from work when he encountered debris blocking Exit 34 of the Bluegrass Parkway. As he exited his vehicle to clear the debris, he was shot multiple times and killed. Investigators believe the debris was deliberately placed to lure Ellis into a vulnerable position^2^.
