On a summer evening in Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 33-year-old Michael Thomas Jr. was tragically cut short. On July 5, 2015, Thomas, a Black male, was found shot to death near an apartment complex on Hazelwood Avenue, close to Iroquois Park. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound. Emergency services responded to a call about a man down and discovered his body; he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 10:00 p.m.
