In October of 2015, the life of 34-year-old Danny Joe Poore was tragically cut short in a rental cabin in Nancy, Kentucky. On the afternoon of Sunday, October 11th, law enforcement, acting on a tip, discovered Poore’s body; he had been fatally shot multiple times. Originally from Monticello, the Louisville man’s death quickly launched a homicide investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators soon identified three individuals wanted for questioning in connection
with the shooting: 23-year-old Carah Whitney Bell of Somerset, 25-year-old Jesse W. Brown of Monticello, and his father, Rexal K. Brown, also of Monticello. The investigation suggested that the motive for the violent encounter may have been robbery. Evidence at the scene indicated the use of two different firearms, leading authorities to believe there were two shooters involved in the incident.
Within a couple of days, the first suspect was in custody. Jesse W. Brown voluntarily met with detectives and was subsequently arrested and charged with murder. He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center. His father, Rexal K. Brown, was also slated to face a murder charge in the case. While an initial report indicated that one of the three wanted individuals had been arrested, further specific details regarding the arrests and the ultimate legal outcomes for Carah Whitney Bell and Rexal K. Brown remain less publicly documented. The investigation pointed towards a grim gathering that turned deadly, leaving behind questions and a family to mourn the loss of Danny Joe Poore.
