In the quiet hills of Harlan County, a domestic dispute escalated into a fatal encounter, leaving a family fractured and a community in shock. Charles Webb, a 59-year-old White male, died on July 14, 2016, from multiple gunshot wounds. A former coal miner, Webb was a father and grandfather, whose life was cut short in the early morning hours at his home on Pope Hill Road in the Dressen community.
The events leading to Webb's death reportedly began with a series of arguments between him
and his wife, Ruby Webb. The disagreements tragically culminated in violence when Ruby Webb shot her husband. Charles Webb was struck in the stomach and hand. Despite his injuries, he was able to identify his wife as the person who shot him to law enforcement before he succumbed to his wounds at a local hospital.
Following the shooting, Kentucky State Police launched an investigation. Ruby Webb, who was 51 years old at the time of the incident, was located near the couple's home and taken in for questioning. After the interview, she was arrested and charged with the murder of her husband. She was subsequently lodged in the Harlan County jail. The investigation into the circumstances that turned a long-standing marriage into a crime scene remained ongoing.
