On a Halloween night in Louisville, Kentucky, as children were out trick-or-treating, 29-year-old Brandon L. Jordan-Corcoran, a Black/African American male, tragically lost his life. The incident occurred on October 31, 2016, at the intersection of 28th and Market streets in the Russell neighborhood. Residents in the area reported hearing a succession of up to a dozen gunshots around 8 p.m.
When police arrived, they found Jordan-Corcoran, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death was one of two separate and unrelated fatal shootings that took place in the same neighborhood that evening, shaking the community. Just hours after Jordan-Corcoran was killed, another man, Marcellus Spaulding Jr., was also found shot to death a few blocks away.
