Georgina Lee Litsey Knott, a 44-year-old female, was found deceased in her Shelbyville, Kentucky home on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Emergency services were initially dispatched to her residence on Gloria Drive around 9:00 a.m. in response to a fire. Upon entering the home, firefighters discovered Ms. Knott's body.
As the investigation continued, authorities located a deceased male, identified as 47-year-old James M. Knott, inside a vehicle behind the residence.
He appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Kentucky State Police were called to lead the death investigation. The incident was investigated as a murder-suicide.
Investigators noted that there were three separate fires on the property, involving the house, a detached garage, and a vehicle. Some neighbors later reported hearing sounds resembling gunshots the previous night. Georgina Knott was a sergeant with the Shelby County Detention Center and was remembered by those who knew her as a good-hearted and quiet person who always had a smile. Because the sole suspect in Georgina's death was also deceased, no arrests were made in the case.
