In the quiet community of Tyner, Kentucky, the life of 27-year-old Jacob Ryan Simpson was cut short on Monday, May 14, 2018. A man known for his skills as an auto mechanic and his love for flea markets, music, and woodworking, his greatest joy was his family. His death, caused by gun violence, left a void in the lives of his loved ones and sent ripples through the small town.

The events that led to Simpson's untimely death unfolded at a residence in Jackson County. Following the incident, the Kentucky State Police launched an investigation. This led to the arrest of Marvin Virgil Hodge, a 41-year-old resident of Annville. Hodge was taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting. He was subsequently lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center.

In a surprising turn of events, Jacob Simpson's wife, Kelly Simpson, offered a different perspective on the tragedy. She stated that Hodge was a friend who was present at her home to help protect her and her family. According to her account, her husband, Jacob, had been behaving erratically and making threats. She recounted a tense situation where she felt the need to have a friend present for safety. She described the shooting as an act of defense, stating that Hodge fired the weapon to protect her. Despite this claim, the authorities proceeded with the murder charge against Hodge, leaving the full story to be unraveled through the legal process.
