In the summer of 2018, the life of 30-year-old Casey Joe Embry of Owensboro, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Saturday, July 7, his body was discovered on the side of Griffith Station Road, near Ben Hawes State Park. An investigation by the Daviess County Sheriff's Office determined that Embry had been fatally shot in the back. A loving husband and father of four, he was remembered as a man who cherished spending time with his children, Emma, Landon, Ryder, and Kasie.
He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.
In the days following the discovery of Embry’s body, the Daviess County Sheriff's Office identified 37-year-old Phillip Hobdy as a person of interest in the case. Law enforcement actively searched for Hobdy, and their efforts culminated in his arrest on Tuesday, July 17. He was subsequently charged with the murder of Casey Joe Embry. The investigation and subsequent arrest were aided by tips from the community, highlighting the collaborative effort between law enforcement and the public in seeking justice for Embry.
Casey Joe Embry, born on August 23, 1987, in Farmington, Missouri, was survived by his wife of fourteen years, Felicia Embry, their four children, his mother, and several siblings. His untimely death left a void in the lives of his family and friends, who gathered to honor his memory at services held the following week.
