For reasons that remain unclear, Glendale Edwards was on the property of 71-year-old Glenn Powell. At some point, Edwards' truck became stuck in a ditch as he attempted to leave Powell's driveway. It was then that Powell allegedly shot Edwards in the back, ending his life. The motive behind this fatal encounter has not been publicly detailed.
Following an investigation into the shooting, Kentucky State Police arrested Glenn Powell and charged him with the murder of Glendale Edwards. As Powell sat in jail awaiting legal proceedings, for which a psychiatric evaluation was ordered, his own home became the target of a crime. In an apparent act of retaliation, Powell's residence was broken into, looted, and then set ablaze. Two vehicles were stolen from the property, along with other items from inside the house.
The investigation into the arson and theft led police to an unexpected suspect: the victim's own son. Daniel Edwards, 36 years old at the time, was arrested along with a second man, 32-year-old Travis Marcum. The two were charged with second-degree arson, burglary, and theft by unlawful taking. According to authorities, Marcum admitted to his involvement in the crimes, and Daniel Edwards acknowledged being in possession of some of the stolen items. This act of vengeance added another layer of tragedy and criminality to the initial killing of Glendale Edwards.
