In the summer of 2020, a life was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. Jose D. Hernandez, a 38-year-old Hispanic/Latino man, died on July 4th from a gunshot wound sustained during a dispute in the Newburg neighborhood. Though he had spent a significant portion of his life in Chicago, he had more recently made Louisville his home. Remembered by loved ones as a hardworking father, grandfather, and the life of the party, his sudden death left a void in the lives of his family and friends.
