In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Hodgenville, Kentucky, the life of 21-year-old Levi G. Sheroon was brought to a tragic and abrupt end. On September 30, 2020, while sitting in his girlfriend's vehicle on Dana Drive, a single gunshot to the chest would prove fatal for the young man from Mount Sherman. He was rushed to Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injury.
The investigation into the shooting was handled by the Kentucky
State Police, who quickly identified 22-year-old Timothy R. Hedges of Hodgenville as a person of interest. Believing Hedges had crucial information regarding the incident and noting he had active arrest warrants, authorities considered him armed and dangerous, urging the public to report any sightings. A few days later, their search concluded with Hedges's apprehension in Custer, Kentucky.
Initially facing a murder charge, Timothy R. Hedges ultimately agreed to a plea deal. The charge was amended to second-degree manslaughter. Reports from the investigation revealed that Hedges had brandished a firearm, placing it against Sheroon's shoulder as he sat in the car. Following a brief exchange of words, Hedges fired the single shot into Sheroon's chest and fled the scene. For his role in Levi Sheroon's death, Hedges was sentenced to nine years in prison.
