In a quiet neighborhood in Franklin, Kentucky, the life of a vibrant 21-year-old woman, Tierra Nekyia Williams, came to a tragic end on June 5, 2022. Born on August 23, 2000, in Lexington, Kentucky, Tierra was a beloved mother, wife, and entrepreneur who had built a life full of promise in her adopted hometown. A 2018 graduate of Franklin Simpson High School, she was remembered as an active student, participating in cheerleading, the dance team, and track.
Her ambition led her to dental school, from which she graduated in 2019, but her true passion was found in caring for children. For three years, she was the proud owner of T&J's Daycare, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
The morning of June 5, 2022, shattered the peace of the 600 block of Patton Road. Just before 6:30 a.m., law enforcement responded to a call of a shooting. Inside her home, they found Tierra suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to the Medical Center at Franklin, but her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead by the Simpson County Coroner's Office. The community was left in shock and mourning for the young woman whose life had been so violently cut short.
The investigation into Tierra's death quickly focused on her husband, 25-year-old Jeremy D. Williams. As authorities searched for him in connection with the shooting, a grim discovery was made. Jeremy Williams was found deceased in his vehicle on northbound Interstate 65, near the 23-mile marker. His death was the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The devastating event was investigated by the Kentucky State Police as a murder-suicide, leaving a young daughter to grow up without her parents and a community to grapple with the profound loss.
