In a quiet shed in rural Pine Island, Minnesota, the lives of two young friends came to a tragic end on January 6, 2014. Nicholas Bryan Roecker, a 19-year-old Caucasian male, died from a gunshot wound in what authorities would later describe as a murder-suicide. A recent graduate of Lourdes High School, he was a freshman at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he was studying science and engineering.
