Charles O'Connell, a 20-year-old resident of Stillwater, MN, tragically lost his life on January 19, 2018. The incident occurred in a residential neighborhood on the 100 block of Bayberry Avenue Court. At approximately 7 p.m., the Stillwater Police Department was dispatched to Lakeview Hospital following a report of a gunshot victim. O'Connell had been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle after being shot. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries within hours.
An 18-year-old individual was identified as a 'person of interest' and was arrested at the hospital on suspicion of murder. However, this individual was not charged and was subsequently released from jail on the following Monday. The investigation into the shooting was taken over by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Charles Timothy O'Connell was born on December 19, 1998, to Timothy “Troy” O'Connell and Michelle O'Connell. He was raised in Stillwater and attended local schools. The community was deeply affected by his untimely death, and a visitation was held on January 28, 2018, to honor his memory.
