On a tragic day in September 2019, the life of 34-year-old Mainhia Yang, a female, was cut short in what was later determined to be a devastating murder-suicide in New Brighton, a suburb of Saint Paul, Minnesota. The events unfolded on a Saturday when police received a distressing call reporting a man with a gun and the sound of gunfire at an apartment complex.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Mainhia Yang inside an apartment, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to
the head. The grim search continued, leading investigators to an unattached garage on the property. There, they found the body of her 51-year-old husband, Ge Yang.
The subsequent investigation, with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, concluded that Ge Yang had taken his wife's life before turning the gun on himself. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled the deaths a murder-suicide. This conclusion meant there were no outstanding suspects in the case, bringing a somber close to the investigation into the violent end of Mainhia Yang's life at the hands of her husband.
