Angela 'Angie' Lynn Mesich, aged 47, was tragically killed on August 30, 2020, in Bloomington, a suburb of Minneapolis, MN. The incident occurred at the couple's home on the 8300 block of 15th Avenue South. Angela was found in a detached garage with multiple gunshot wounds to her neck and torso. The suspect in this case was her husband, Jason Michael Mesich, who was 48 years old at the time.
Jason Mesich was arrested at the scene after a standoff with police.
He was found in the basement of their home, screaming, throwing objects, and firing a gun. According to the police, Jason admitted to 'probably' killing his wife following an argument about their sex life. He claimed that during the argument, Angela suggested he 'maybe' just shoot her, which led to him allegedly emptying the firearm on her.
In addition to killing his wife, Jason Mesich also shot two of their neighbors, 12-year-old Makayla Saulter-Outlaw and her 29-year-old sister, Canisha Saulter. The sisters were outside their home, moving items into a U-Haul, when Jason opened fire on them. Makayla was holding her 1-year-old niece at the time and used her body to shield the child from the gunfire. Both sisters were critically injured but survived the attack.
Jason Mesich was charged with second-degree murder for the death of his wife and two counts of second-degree attempted murder for the shootings of Makayla and Canisha Saulter. He later pleaded guilty to these charges and was sentenced to 48 years in prison.
