Courtney Grace Henry, a 29-year-old woman from Lakeville, MN, was tragically killed on June 22, 2021. She was found dead outside a daycare facility in Lakeville, having been shot multiple times. The suspect in this case was her ex-boyfriend, Atravius Joseph Weeks, who was 32 years old at the time of the incident.
On the morning of June 22, 2021, another ex-girlfriend of Weeks called 911 to report that he was violating an Order for Protection and pounding on the walls outside her apartment in Belle Plaine. When police arrived, they found Weeks carrying a weapon and bleeding from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. During the interview, Weeks confessed to killing Courtney Henry and provided the location of her body.
Weeks was arrested and charged with first and second-degree murder. A Dakota County jury deliberated for just three hours before delivering guilty verdicts on both counts. Atravius Weeks was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
