On December 26, 2022, the body of a Caucasian female, identified as 41-year-old Kimberly Ann Robinson of the Eyota and Rochester area, was discovered in a tragic turn of events. A person walking their dog in Cascade Township, just outside of Rochester, Minnesota, made the grim find when their dog pulled them towards a snowy ditch off West River Road.
There, they saw what appeared to be an arm sticking out of the snow and immediately contacted law enforcement.
Investigators quickly determined that Robinson's death was a homicide. An autopsy later confirmed that she had died from a fatal gunshot wound. The investigation soon focused on a person of interest, 39-year-old Mustafa Rahshad Bush of Rochester, with whom Robinson had been living for the two years prior to her death. Family members of Bush assisted authorities in bringing him in for questioning. After declining to provide a statement, Bush was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Court proceedings revealed a history of domestic abuse. Evidence presented during the trial included testimony from one of Robinson's sons, who stated that his mother had sent him photos of bruises and had told him that if anything happened to her, Bush would be responsible. Another witness testified to seeing Bush with a large, heavy suitcase on Christmas night. In November 2024, an Olmsted County jury found Mustafa Bush guilty of first-degree murder involving a pattern of domestic violence and second-degree murder with intent. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. It was also revealed that Bush had a prior murder conviction from 2007 and was on supervised release at the time of Robinson's death.
