On the evening of April 23, 2021, in Coffeyville, Kansas, a violent encounter cut short the life of 46-year-old Christopher Scott Temple, a White male. Police were called to the 700 block of West Martin Street shortly after 10 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they learned that Temple, suffering from a gunshot wound, had already been transported by a private vehicle to a local hospital.
The severity of his injuries necessitated a transfer to St.
Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his wounds. An investigation into the fatal shooting was promptly launched by law enforcement authorities.
The investigation quickly identified a suspect, 24-year-old Ruben Alfonso Ruiz Robles, also of Coffeyville. A few days later, on April 26, 2021, authorities located and arrested Robles in Torrance County, New Mexico. He was taken into custody and held at the Torrance County Jail in connection with the murder of Christopher Scott Temple.
