James Brady, who served as the White House Press Secretary under President Ronald Reagan, was critically wounded during an assassination attempt on March 30, 1981. The assailant, John Hinckley Jr., shot Brady in the head outside the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., leaving him partially paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
