Jacob Joseph Chestnut, a 58-year-old officer with the United States Capitol Police, was tragically killed on July 24, 1998, in Washington, D.C. Chestnut, affectionately known as "J.J.," was an 18-year veteran of the force and a Vietnam War veteran who had served two tours of duty as a Military Policeman.
