In the early hours of a Saturday morning over Memorial Day weekend in 2017, the life of 32-year-old Algernon Harvey Jones, a Black male from Southeast, D.C., was tragically cut short. On May 27th, at approximately 12:59 a.m., Jones was in the 100 block of Q Street, NW when gunfire erupted. The incident was not a targeted attack on a single individual, but a chaotic and violent event that left seven other people, six men and one woman, with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
