On June 19, 2018, Andre Simmons, Jr., a 28-year-old man from Bowie, Maryland, was abducted at gunpoint. He was bound with zip ties and forced into a vehicle by Darin Moore, Jr., 29, and John Sweeney, 29, both from Washington, D.C. During the following hours, several ransom calls were made from James Taylor's phone, 33, also from Washington, D.C., to Mr. Simmons' family.
