In the late hours of a summer night in Washington, D.C., the life of 37-year-old Rayfone Gassaway, a male resident of Alexandria, Virginia, was cut short by violence. On Sunday, July 19, 2020, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 3400 block of Stanton Road, Southeast, for a report of a man down. Upon their arrival, they discovered Gassaway unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
