In the early evening of September 17, 2020, a 24-year-old Black woman named Donika Simone Hawkins was fatally shot in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 6:29 p.m. in the rear of the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of gunshots in that area. They discovered Ms. Hawkins inside a vehicle in the 3500 block of 22nd Street, Southeast, suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services ...
