In the small railroad town of Carlin, Nevada, the disappearance of 57-year-old Miles Faucett on New Year's Day of 1888 initially caused little alarm. Faucett, a local miner and rancher, was last seen visiting the home of his friends, Josiah and Elizabeth Potts.
