In the early morning hours of September 21, 2014, the life of 25-year-old Launde Lawrence White, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident unfolded in the backyard of a residence located in the 3700 block of Kolanut Lane, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Pecos Road. It was there that White was fatally shot, sustaining wounds to his chest and head.
According to the investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the events
leading to the fatal shooting began when an unknown man approached the house with the intention of purchasing drugs. After being turned away, the man returned a short time later, around 5:30 a.m., and a physical altercation ensued between him and White. The confrontation escalated, culminating in the man shooting White before fleeing the scene on foot.
In the aftermath of the shooting, authorities sought the public's assistance in identifying the person responsible for Launde White's death. Nearly a year later, in August 2015, the police released a description of the suspect. He was described as a Black man in his late 20s or early 30s, with a large and muscular build, standing approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall with a shaved head.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement and the public appeal for information, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Launde Lawrence White. The identity of the suspect remains unknown, and the case has since gone cold, leaving a family without answers and a community with the memory of a life taken too soon. The investigation into his death is presumably still open, pending any new leads or information that may come to light.
