In the early morning hours of May 20, 2016, a senseless act of road rage tragically cut short the life of 35-year-old Joseph Deion Jackson, a Black/African American man from North Las Vegas, Nevada. Jackson was the front passenger in a car being driven by his girlfriend, with their young child secured in the back seat, when a confrontation with another driver escalated with deadly consequences.
The family was on their way to Jackson's job at the time of the incident.
The fatal encounter occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Craig Road and North 5th Street. According to police, a dark-colored sedan, believed to be a Mitsubishi Eclipse, was involved in the road-rage incident. Several shots were fired from the suspect's vehicle into the car carrying Jackson and his family. Jackson was struck by a single gunshot to the head. His girlfriend and their child were not physically injured in the attack.
Despite witness accounts and a description of the assailant, the person responsible for Joseph Jackson's death has not been apprehended. Authorities described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 years of age, with short, dark hair and a clean-shaven face. The North Las Vegas Police Department has continued to seek information from the public that could lead to the identification and arrest of the individual who took a father's life in a fleeting moment of anger on the road. The case remains an unsolved homicide, leaving a family to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a loved one.
