On June 24, 1978, the body of Charlotte Lee Lamb, a 31-year-old legal secretary, was discovered in the laundry room of her apartment complex in El Segundo, California. The circumstances of her death were gruesome and indicative of a violent and predatory attack. Lamb had been sexually assaulted, severely beaten, and strangled with a shoelace. Her body was found posed with her hands behind her back, suggesting a deliberate and calculated act by the perpetrator.
