In the winter of 1909 in Trinidad, Colorado, a dedicated police officer named Alexander Brighton, a 41-year-old male, tragically lost his life in the line of duty. His death stemmed from a violent encounter that occurred two days prior, on January 18th, when he attempted to arrest a man. During the confrontation, the suspect fired a weapon, inflicting a fatal gunshot wound upon the officer. Despite medical efforts, Policeman Brighton succumbed to his injury on January 20, 1909.
